Mid week read : MPs call for Halifax rules change

Well it appears all the naughty players are finally getting told off. Reardon, Price, Bird et al. And when say naughty I do mean pretty disgraceful and they are all so far escaping without jail sentances which is a little suprising to some.

However this weeks link which has just had me nearly spitting tea everywhere is this one

It is unbelieveable, I've just checked and it's not April fools but some people in Halifax are clearly having a laugh. To petition for a team to be entered into Super League on the back of an unbeaten season is ridiculous. For a start we haven't finished the season yet, they may not even win the league. Also if Widnes or Leigh come good with a long unbeaten run next season do we try to get them admitted to Super League because they have a "stadium and a team fit for purpose" ?
I hope to god this gets the firm answer of NO from the RFL but well you just never know with them do you.

Super League Predictions

Well this is exactly what happens without proper organisation, the bank holiday throws everything into chaos. Having set out from Bournemouth mid afternoon on Thursday fully intending to post my predictions on the website once I got home it appears the bank holiday traffic had other things in mind. Having doubled the journey time I managed to get home for half time in the Saints game (although I was of course bang on with my prediction – honest!)
Then my usual mix of bank holiday drinking, eating easter eggs and managing to fill my time with nothing has meant that we are now at Monday, I've forgotten to put together a Monday quiz so you'll have a Tuesday one again and I'm busy trying to quickly pick out todays winners.

That said I've managed to watch quite a bit of rugby this weekend so far which has been good. I even got myself down to Widnes to watch the Leigh game, which given the way Widnes played it was quite pleasing I'd gotten a free ticket, some things haven't changed in recent years at the Halton (Stobart) stadium.

But still on with business and todays predictions for you after you click read more or whatever it says.

Monday, 13 April 2009
Catalans Dragons v Wigan
Celtic Crusaders v Harlequins RL
Hull KR v Huddersfield
Leeds v Salford
St Helens v Hull
Wakefield v Bradford
Warrington v Castleford

Happy Easter!

Monday Mastermind Quiz IX

Well the Monday quiz is late as usual, this time I have a different excuse, that apart from the usual drinking shenangins of the weekend involves my car setting alight and me sunbathing on the M3. In an incident entirely seperate from getting drunk of course but still it left me with lots to do on Monday and hence the Tuesday Mastermind Quiz. As it was Challenge cup weekend a Challenge cup there

1. Who's playing CV?
Wigan – Balmain Tigers – London Broncos – Bradford Bulls – London Broncos
– Bonus point, how many times did he win the Challenge Cup?
2. Who's this kicking a goal this weekend in the challenge cup?
who is it?

3. Name the teams
name the teams

What year was the Challenge cup started?

What is the name of the trophy given to the Challenge cup final man of the match?

How many non Super League teams have made it to this year's fifth round?
