It’s strange that this is probably my easiest post of the week, I just stick links to all the stuff I’ve read, yet I always seem to forget about it. Anyway here’s this weeks lovely dump of links.

Peacock V Perry – world club challenge punch up

I love Jamie Peacock, never afraid of a bit of the biff, still I think he came off second best in this little scuffle with Manly player Josh Perry. If I had my way I’d put Peacock with Adrian Morley in the same team and tell them opposition had been making jokes about their mothers, would be brilliant to watch.

Stuck in the barren rugby league wasteland of the south coast – thank god for youtube

That is indeed where I am stuck, without sky sports and so my only link to the rugby league world is via the internet. Thankfully BBC now offer the Super League show for download on iplayer and you can watch boots ‘n’ all online as well apparently. But that’s it. I missed the World club challenge game, I was in a pub watching extra time of United Spurs in the Carling cup final, with an alarming amount of United fans considering I’m in Bournemouth – they get bloody everywhere!

Still you can see the highlights in the clip above at least, like I did.

So this is why we need expansion, so that when I go somewhere I don’t have to miss out on watching rugby league, and of course this expansion shouldn’t be at the expense of Widnes again.

But asides from that it appears to have been a good weekend of action with Warrington looking not very good again and the World club challenge title heading back down under.
Intriguingly there was a suggestion of pitching the game as an NRL versus Superleague weekend with the top 3 playing the top 3 from each league and I’ll tell you what I actually quite like the idea. Outside of all the too many games complaining (yes Mr Robbie Paul) I think if it could be organised it would be a good weekend of action and surely the NRL teams wouldn’t turn down a change to show their superiority and the Super league clubs would love a chance to dispel the accusations of the league being substandard. It would be a great showcase and no doubt a great set of games.
I also think that it should be played in Australia at some point, bring it to the Australian public to give it some more credibility and they can stop dismissing it as a far off jokey competition played in a second rate rugby nation, or so I believe they think.
Still you can simply enjoy this years game above.
Additionally it appears we had in goal refs at Hull this weekend, or maybe I wasn’t concentrating or something went wrong with my super league show download, but I thought that was only an aussie experiment, guess not!

Rob Burrow gets smashed – World Club Challenge

Rob Burrow feels the force of Anthony Watmough in yesterdays World Club Challenge game which Manly won. A little bit high I think but it’s hard not to tackle Rob Burrow high, it also put Burrow out of the game as far as I know.
